The verb '보다' is already suggested and you need to find an ending that agrees to the main clause '내려야 할 역을 지나쳤다' (I missed the station where I had to get off.)

1. 휴대 전화를 보든지 (Either watching the phone): '든지' is to give different options in choice. It mostly comes with future tense when the decision making takes place.

e.g. 휴대 전화를 보든지 텔레비전을 보든지 한 가지만 해라.

Watch either the phone or the TV. (don't do both at once)

2. 휴대 전화를 보다가 (While watching the phone): '-다가' is used when more than 2 actions take place at the same time. It often indicates the background situation / reason in which the 2nd action (main clause) happens.

3. 휴대 전화를 보려면 (in order to watch the phone) :-려면' is for explaining the condition of the 2nd action. It mostly comes with imperative or request sentences.

e.g. 휴대 전화를 보려면 우선 충전을 해야 한다.

I first need to charge the phone to watch it.

4. 휴대 전화를 보고서 (I watched the phone and) :'고서' may also indicate the background situation / reason in which the 2nd action happens, however, it can only comes with the situation that happened earlier than the 2nd (main) clause. If one says "휴대 전화를 보고서 내려야할 역을 지나쳤다." It would sounds like "I had watched the phone and then I missed the station."
